Akae Beka’s “Living Testament” the Album, in-depth into the art.

Greeting in the Name of His Imperial Majesty, Qedamawi Haile Selassie, Jah Rastafari! Without whom we wouldn’t be here today and sharing the inspiration given to us as a gift from Jah. Reverence and Veneration to the Most High God, Jah Rastafari.

It is with a great joy to announce the new album while also reminded of the solemn gratitude that we have for the Hon. Vaughn Benjamin. His impact of our lives globally is a re-enforcement in the importance of our duties to trod on in the King’s Mission as Children of Jah.

LIVING TESTAMENT is the final album Vaughn Benjamin recorded before he transitioned in November of 2019. In late October of 2019, he travelled to Grass Valley, California, recording this 11-track album at Ras Biblical’s studio, Trinity Farm Music, over a period of 2 days. The producers gathered 11 masterful musicians on these tracks, including Manuel “Go A Chant” Guerra, Denfield “Ras Pulse” Potter, Walker Pillow, Scott Lynwood Davis, Befekadu Assefa and Tuff Lion. Together, these musicians weaved together a powerful family of songs that tell a timeless and truly unique story, a masterpiece of roots reggae.
LIVING TESTAMENT includes the single ‘Who Will Go For Us’ which was released on January 6th 2024 with a video filmed on location in Ethiopia. In the coming weeks, we’ll be speaking with Go A Chant and Biblical, who were present for the creation of this album. We’ll learn about these recording sessions and what happened behind the scenes.
LIVING TESTAMENT is a monumental album and an important piece of history. It will be available on LP, CD, and high-quality download on February 16th courtesy of Go A Chant, Trinity Farm Music, Before Zero Records, and I-Roots Records.
The music is exquisite and the CD has more music than the LP’s which have a 44 min limit. So it worth picking up both the CD and the LP to be able to get the most from this powerful spiritual roots ensemble. The CD also has a poster on it, featuring the album cover and an image created by artist, Eloy Guerra, which is of Akae Beka as Michael the Arc Angel slewing satan.  We will reason on the art in a little bit… !
Here is how you can support and get the single which just came out and also has its own art made special for the song. The Single, ” Who will go for Us ” was released Jan.5th with an amazing music video. Here is the link to the music video, filmed in Ethiopia : Akae Beka “Who will go for Us” Music Video

Lets get into the Joy-tings, aka paintings! When I was asked to do the art for the album cover this piece by Eloy Guerra was already present as a meditation. I was asked what I thought, and I said it was brilliant and I wanted to make the polar opposite in harmony with this piece for the cover. Akae Beka, is an oath given from Jah to Michael the ArcAngel, no one else, just Michael, which means that Akae Beka is interlinked and connected to, we can say IS the personality of Michael the Arc Angel. The importance of this would reflect the manner of how we approach the project, which wasn’t as a project, but as a Living Testament. The title of album was revealed through the Rastafari Elder Jah Rubal, who was present during the recordings, and said when he heard the tunes, that this is the name of the album. Go A Chant and Trinity Farms Music worked on the album like you raise a child, carefully considering how to the present something that means so much to us all, and relay that in the presentation and final release. The artwork for the album cover InI did is a continuation and expansion of the piece that I was shown done by Eloy. In that I saw and heard what was said and what had already been expressed, in that the art for the cover would present a balance opposite and polar balance expressed through elements and symbols. That can be seen in various ways, First, the number element of the piece is from Eloy Guerra’s piece, Fire, Night and Vaughn, for the InI, the focus was Water, Day, and the King and Queen of Creation. In the piece of Michael the Arc Angel, you can see he is clearly the Arc Angel, while on the cover you will not even know he is, unless you count the number of angels in the clouds and have read the book of Enoch. There are six angels instead of seven, which are the number of Arc Angels, which Michael leads. Akae Beka is discreetly at the bottom with a special three personalities. Expanding on the Melchizadok order, with the Almighty is revealed in Three Trinitys, all which also encompass Akae Beka. The First being, Priest, Prophet, Warrior, with Vaughn representing the all three and the King in the Warrior, the other is Priest, Prophet and King, and Akae Beka being the Bridge of where these Three in One meet. The Last is the The Father of Fathers, The Mother of Mothers and Sons and Daughters of God, which is what we all are and everyone in the piece is. This is all in the Power of the Trinity, Haile Selassie who is Crown of Akae Beka.

"Living Testament" Original Art by Ras Elijah Tafari

“Living Testament” Original Art by Ras Elijah Tafari

The piece of Michael the Arc Angel by Eloy Guerra, we see a Judge, Jury and Executioner, where there are no children of Jah, just the devil and the Arc Angel. In order that we keep it to the Garden, aka Ethiopia, also the Cradle, we express that on both pieces, that Our God, Our Original Ancestors and the devil are all African or Black.  This is why everyone is also in African Attire on both images, with the exception of Akae Beka on the  album cover. On the Cover the clothing is East African, on the piece of Micheal, it is West African, which is another complimentary opposite. Likewise the hands of Akae Beka, on one they are holding scales and a sword, the other a in-scents  filled with smoke and his Left hand on The Rock of Jah, opposite and true. Same one in a different time and space. Same mission for the King and for the man, and for the Angels, prophets, priests and warriors, mothers, and Empresses from then till now.

There is a moon and city on the Michael the Arc Angel Piece, the opposite is happening on the album cover. On the album cover, there is only the Garden, so that we have a Genesis feeling, the Michael the Arc Angel piece feeling like Revelations. Also though it day and night, the light and sun is blocked by HIM, and that He is greater than the sun, in that the sun will not be seen in awareness of not using the Sun above Jah. On the piece of Michael the Arc Angel, Akae Beka has his hair out, on the Cover, Akae Beka is wearing the hat he wore for years, a simple Fishermans cap, complimenting the white skully or turban and garments that we would see as Akae Beka on his last years of witnessing and testimony.       “Living Testament ” from start to finish in and out, reflects a fullness that embraces the polarities and shares the unity like the lightening bolts in both pieces. There is also a Heavenly Trinity of Yashua The Christ, Enoch ascending in the whirl wind and Elijah on the Chariot of Fire.

The ideas in the cover, will be understood more once the album is heard. All of the tunes are reflected in the cover. The depth and vision that are sharpened by Vaughn’s words cannot be really expressed, and artistically, they are more than anyone can ask. There is a reason Akae Beka is in the Shadow of His Majesty.  I will let you figure out some of the other codes in names of the songs… ” S ” on the Chest” in Fire as the flames of the Chariot with The Prophet Elijah  and there is a whole piece just for  ”Who will go for Us” plus the first painting that was too busy that has never been shared.

Akae Beka: Who Will Go For Us Lyrics

Akae Beka: Who Will Go For Us Lyrics

There is a lot to get from this tune, and I thought it was very mystic that it was the single and video to announce the album. It interweaves 3 Bible stories, One of Eli and Samuel, the awakening of Samuel to the lords voice. Next of Jehoash being hidden so that the Queen of the Hebrews who was the daughter of Jezebel could not kill the remnant of the true line of Kings, and the chorus is Isaiah chapter 6:8 speaking about how Isaiah had to be purified in order to offer himself fully to Jah. The Purification is a theme in this tune, which is why it also mentions “bring down the oil to David send the anointed Cherub” A Cherub is an high angel represented in ancient times as a winged lion. The oil is the anointing from Jah, with man bowing to Jah’s elect high priest. Samuel did not know it was David he was to anoint, nor did Samuel know it would be Saul before him. He did as the Lord commanded, and likewise in the purification process, to reach the throne, our Kings have been children who had to be hidden, in battle and also chosen. What it means to be chosen is a long reasoning, however in short, it is to navigate thru in the Grace of Jah, the problems and crisis that arise. Always against massive odds, the overcoming can only be seen as a miracle, and an act of Jah. Glory to Jah and Blessed are those surrender to His Will in the face of persecution.

Here is the original Joy-ting piece for the song, ” Who Will Go For Us “, inside of it you can see each story and how it interplays visually.

Who Will Go For Us rough draft

Who Will Go For Us rough draft

After completing the piece I could feel Jah telling I that it wasn’t it. That I put in too much and missed the point that Akae Beka was clearly singing, which was the hook. Once I went and looked up the history of art and paintings that reference Isaiah 6:8 I was amazed how many pieces have been made over hundreds of years about this chapter and verse. After seeing all the ideas, I wanted to create a piece that had never been done, or anything like it. All the other pieces where dark and the Isaiah portrayed as light skinned, which I immediately said isn’t right. Isaiah spend 3 years naked in Ethiopia, he definitely wasn’t light skinned.

One of the emotions I wanted to capture on Isaiah’s face was fear, which is where he was before and during the encounter with the angels who were singing to Jah. In chapter 5 “ Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”

The terror of seeing Jah, and the angels made him say Woe is me!.. realize the humility of this one, Isaiah is incredible. While most think they are pure and ready, this holy prophet admits quickly that his lips are unclean! That he and his people are dirty, and that he doesn’t feel worthy to see Jah. This inner standing, that he had, was seen by Jah, and in so many ways in reassurance that Jah see’s our hearts and that those who repent and surrender can be absolved and purified. The extreme purification of fire, and coals, are also very important in understanding that this isn’t some easy thing, and that Akae Beka was clear about that. That it is also ok to fear Jah, and do not let the fear hold you back. The chapter speaks that if you want to be all you can be, then you need to know that acknowledging where you are wrong is where you start to go right… you may need to read that again.. That by confronting our evils and faults, we give room for the Most High to heal us and correct us. This book is also here for us so it is known, even a man as great as the Prophet Isaiah had unclean lips and “his” people where also rudeboys, that redemption is still there through purification, those who are  asked, who will go for us?.. who like these men would say, ” Here am I, send me.” ?

A Rastafari view: Matisyahu Reprimand. Why he is out of order.

Greetings in the Name of the Conquering Lion of Judah, Emperor Haile Selassie I, Power of the Trinity and Light of this World. Rastafari Greetings to the World, and Greetings to the Reggae and Rastafari Community World Wide.

In this turbulent time it is important that the  Rastafari Movement speaks in a manner that opens doors, and doesn’t close them and be honest with one another. Get some tea, and lets do some real soul digging today without emotional rhetoric. Mr. Matisyahu, you have come into the Rastafari community and you know who His Imperial Majesty, Qedamawi Haile Selassie is. You know we as Rastafari are here to bring a unique and holistic manner of communication called reasoning, this is what I hope will occur, so that the journey may continue in the virtues of that which makes the mystics spiritual kinsmen. We refer to His Imperial Majesty in our ideas, where the summary of our words and message reflect on the wise mind of The Conquering Lion of Judah, The King of Kings, Emperor Haile Selassie I in the words He has spoken.

Mr. Matisyahu, you have sat with our great teacher the Rt. Hon. Vaughn Benjamin, Akae Beka, and you have listened to his music. You say you listen to him before the shows you perform. The prophetic fire that our teacher shares, carries upon our shoulders now to Itinue. That also entails blunt honesty, and as the Emperor said, ” We must speak out on major world issues, courageously , openly and honestly, and in blunt terms of right and wrong. If we yield to blandishments or threats, if we compromise when no honorable compromise is possible, our influence will be sadly diminished and our prestige woefully prejudiced and weakened.” H.I.M. Haile Selassie I May 25, 1963.

We understand that currently many people in the world feel threatened and scared, angry and emotional, our desire is that rational thinking be achieved. Still, this is something that we must take into consideration, that you and many around the world feel defensive, and again, lets take a breath, and know that what we will achieve must be bigger than ourselves and our feelings. We are just reflections of many, so let us acknowledge that neither one of us are the problem. The subject matter is the greater point, not simply individualizing the topics at hand.

We have never met, and one day, Jah Willing, we can reason and hopefully on the topic of reconciliation, and what is reconcilable. In the Torah and in the New Testament, this topic is one of the major subjects, in which we have to identify the power of forgiveness for ourselves and for the redemption of a people. There is difference though between the ignorant and those who know they are serial criminals. And there are systems of governance agreed on that criminals, even if they repent will have to face accountability for their actions. Both to man and The Creator. Once again, the Law, international, scriptural, and in the name Judah will be addressed. On this topic of accountability and responsibility let us remember mankind highest values and reflect the virtues of our mentors.

We as the Rastafari Community have been a resistance movement against colonialization no matter when or where. The principals of being against colonial rule, and oppression by European domination has stood in line with our Ethiopian cultural traditions at home and abroad. We stood as Ethiopians, and as Rastafari Globally in the struggle against Apartheid in South Africa, and spoke loudly against the policies of the Apartheid regime.

There are many forms of Zionism, and InI am not going to assume what kind of Zionism you personally may believe in, I will even say that the ideas of Zionism aren’t the issue, the belief that a people should have state and homeland doesn’t bother I, its how such an idea has shown its policies and the impacts on the region based on the polices.  The  Balfour Declaration ( The first British Zionist Declaration on creating a state), called for safeguarding the civil and religious rights for the Palestinian Arabs, who composed the vast majority of the local population, and also the rights and political status of the Jewish communities in other countries outside of Palestine. The British government acknowledged in 1939 that the local population’s wishes and interests should have been taken into account, and recognised in 2017 that the declaration should have called for the protection of the Palestinian Arabs’ political rights. I am bringing this up because I want the reader to understand that in original Zionists agreements, that the contract includes between Israel and England, that safeguarding of civil and religious rights ( though political was purposely left out) was part of this agreement. Why is it that these rights have never been as defended as part of the Zionist platform when it part of its foundation? Further still, let it noted that many Jews do not support Zionism, before the occupation in 1948, before the Balfour Declaration in 1917, and still dont support Zionism. So it isn’t anti Jewish to be against Zionism, nor is it anti Semitic. Even your good friends who are Zionists, The World Jewish Community In August 2018, WJC President Ronald S. Lauder called on “Israel’s government to listen to the voices of protest and outrage” and uphold the country’s democratic and egalitarian principles against the threat of dominance by restrictive Orthodox influence, from what he called ‘a radical minority.” That many Zionists are still weary of radical minorities within Israel’s right wing that do not have the interest or ability to govern responsibly. Further there are many Orthodox Jews that are against Zionism as it is currently implemented. So how it is implemented..

To be pro- Israel mean wha? Does being pro- Israel mean denying 2.5 million people food water and fuel for 37 days, or bombing 9 hospitals, the oldest Christian Church that was running, with a US Congressman’s family inside? Is being pro Israel mean killing 101 United Nations workers and dozens of reporters? Or dropping thousands of bombs on dense populations to try and find militants underground? Does supporting Israel mean supporting white phosphorus dropped on children? Because I think it’s supporting war crimes by a failed Israeli Government.  I don’t think it has anything to do with Zionism, or for the safety of Israel, that it is illogical, as well as being a War Crime with the intention of Genocide. Mr. Matisyahu, I find it hard to believe that you would deny power to a child in an incubator or actually deny water to 85,000 pregnant women, however your government is doing it in your name. How many innocent lives lost is enough, before it is clear that thousands of innocent children dead is a crime against humanity? I say this with seriousness, and these questions I leave open for you to answer. Could it be, that the different perspectives of many Jews are being ignored and politcally used as a monolith for how the World should respond?  Is hindering real solutions and proper representation helping or hurting the Jewish people themselves? These questions we can see to when you respond Jah willing.

We have more that needs touching on, this post with an image of a lion with a Star of David chasing a wolf, with the title, ” Did you think that you would kill and steal our babies and we would not come after you.” Lets look at this, as people who want to speak on part of the victims.. defending the babies… The argument has been made that the Oct. 7th Hamas attack was Israel’s 9/11 when considered in proportion to its population. With this logic, Gaza, who population is less and has suffered the loss of 11,000 lives, ( with less than 100 being Hamas) which would be more than 100 “9-11′s”  for Palestinians. 4000 have been children, meaning more than two real trade towers full of babies have been killed by Israeli/ American bombs. Has this achieved anything and where is it going except the death of more innocent lives? That is if you believe there are innocent lives, in which the Israeli government has expressed the people of Gaza are all animals and there are no innocents in Gaza.

If you need to refill your tea thats fine, this isn’t a thing we gonna just summarize.. This is a serious subject my lord. We gonna touch on this next line which Mr. Matisyahu also begins with and finishes with. The Conquering Lion of Judah.. We as Rastafari hold this title in a special reverence in regard to the Ethiopian Beta Israel tradition that the Conquering Lion of Judah will prevail. It is on the Imperial Flag, and it was a proclamation of the Emperor’s of Ethiopia until Emperor Haile Selassie I. Up till H.I.M. it wasn’t a title, During His Imperial Majesty’s rule it became a title, and this is historically evident and factual. So, for InI as Rastafari Haile Selassie I is the Conquering Lion of Judah, and this is historically accurate. As far as many Christian’s, Jesus Christ is the Conquering Lion of Judah alone, and they do not agree with us a Rastafari, and many are offended by us speaking on what we say is just reality, and prophecy fulfilled. The nature of the Rastafari – Christian relationship is that Rastafari through the Book of Revelations that the marriage of the Lion and Lamb, is that of the Father and Son, and the Lamb is Christ, and Our Father, Atse Haile Selassie Is the Lion and this reflects the same unity as Christ and The Father in the past and present and forever more. For Rastafari, Emperor Haile Selassie I alone is the Power of the Trinity, and The Almighty One, and it that is the same relationship and oneness of Christ and with the Menfes Kedus ( the Holy Spirit) is embodied and actualized. For those who are Jews, they do not believe in Christ, and so they never accepted or could accept Emperor Haile Selassie as the King of Israel, or King of Judah, or Conquering Lion of Judah, because it would suggest they accept their King is Christian to say the least. Instead many Jews consider the nation of Israel the Conquering Lion of Judah and if I am mistaken please let InI know. For the adoption of a passage from Revelations, in direct reference to the second advent of Christ, the idea that an Orthodox Jew would adopt this phrase is a mystery to InI and that we as Rastafari say anyone calling themselves the Conquering Lion of Judah blasphemy. Let alone a Christian phrase like break every chain, which is Mr. Matisyahu ending to the post.Matisyahu instagram post

” The World is Splitting in half. We shall see where you land. Speak up, we see you. We know you. Though it might feel strange for this generation our blood knows this predicament well. We know what it is to be hated. We know what it is to be murdered,”

Coolya man,…This quote from Mr. Matisyahu this here is unnecessarily divisive in manner that is threatening, we shall see where you land.. we see you.. we know you… all this is a form of intimidation. It seems it is raising a cry for hatred, and challenging people to say your either with us ( all Jews he suggests through the blood line comment)  or you hate us. He goes on with this idea of saying ” To everyone who is with us, good. You should be. We’ve given you the greatest gifts to mankind. To everyone who is against us. Thank you for showing us your true colors and reminding us who we are.”  Here we are watching the assumption that everyone should be with Israel without criticizing its actions, and that they the Jews have given Mankind the greatest of gifts. This is quite a statement! Everyone is entitled to their views, however we have to slow down here, and express some facts perhaps we don’t address often. Ones can argue both ways, in which I am open to hear, that Judaism is a religion not a race, personally I think it is both and that some do have genetic links some don’t . That people convert to Judaism, and that doesn’t make them any less Jewish. It is true some Jews have a lineage they can record that take them to Jewish ancestors, but what makes a Jew is does He believe in the Torah, the God of Abraham, the Ten Commandments and that Moses held a stick that turned into a snake. If one doesn’t believe this, they aren’t Jewish too many. I am not here to say who is and who isn’t a Jew, however to put them all in line with being descendants of King David is far off. History and genetics will show signs of the conversions of  Kazars to Ashkenazi Jews and also semitic blood lines.  The lumping of all Jews together, encouraging entitlement to land and the right to proclaim they brought the world their greatest gift is declaring that world should be grateful for this State of Israel right now, this is manipulative and inaccurate. ” To Those who are against us” he writes, implying  the grouping all those who stand for Geneva Conventions on War Crimes, Crimes against Humanity, the United Nations, Amnesty International, as against him, and Israel, when in fact we are for the safety and security of all people especially in war no matter who is doing it. Truly we should be equally thankful for everyone in the region for their contributions to human development and protect them, not feel indebted to this policy because Jews are the bringers of the Torah. No Sir.

Israel governs over several illegal settlements and ongoing occupations, where Palestinians are kept in an open air prison, denied access to leave, their pay or taxes, able to freely travel, or a military, and are just as semitic as any native Jewish person. The government of Israel, and Zionists do not currently have a desire for peace, democracy, or 2 states, nor have for a long time. The Emperor, Haile Selassie I, said unless Israel withdraws from conquered territories that there will not be peace in the Middle East. That is Rastafari Sound. Emperor Haile Selassie I stood against the occupation of Palestinian land and for the UN to come in with peacekeeping forces. (UNSC resolution 338,339, 340) Rastafari sound for one and all, we can’t accept a man who calls himself Rastafari and supports Apartheid. Nor can we dwell in the council of the ungodly. Man can’t be in the Rastafari Movement or in the Hip Hop movement, if someone supports Right Wing Racist, fascist policies, that include war crimes with no accountability then they go against the very principals of a music meant to liberate the mind and hearts of the oppressed. They can culturally misappropriate the music, but they can’t be the movement.  We stand for the Icepts of Let the Hungry be Fed, the Naked be clothed, the Infants be cared for and the Elders protected. We stand for Human Rights not against them.. and before we start with the what about Hamas part, we are talking about Israel’s creditability and your legatimacy Mr. Matisyahu. We can see that we have a problem here bigger than individuals, you didnt start this war, nor can you finish it, you didnt create this doctrine of Zionism, we get that. However in order that Israel’s and your own personal trauma can be healed, they have to be aware of the trauma they are afflicting on the world in the blatant disregard of human life because they are scared and operating in a mode of fearful thinking.

Your HollyWood Life interview you say “And to the people that are too afraid to speak up, or the people that are putting up posts and then taking them down because they’re afraid they’re going to lose followers — and [that] they’re going to lose some of their fame or their standing — I have to say, I’m sorry for you. It’s bigger than your brand.”

How many people are losing their jobs for supporting Israel? How many tanks do the people of Gaza have that 14 Billion dollars for Israeli weapons isn’t enough? How much media time does Gaza get and accurate reporting compared to Israel? How many celebrities have been attacked for speaking against blanket bombing of civilians? I am concerned that the reality that it is very dangerous to critique Israel and its policies, and that the censorship of Americans by Israeli super pacs are a very real danger too many states. When there is one voice in Congress calling for a ceasefire who has been censured, I would say that the danger for most people and fear many have is to speak against Israel’s actions, where in some countries they have considered it anti-semitic to criticize a government policy. Social Media outlets have also heavily censored pro-Palestinian voices in contrast to pro Israel offensive videos and messages. Lets reason in this…

Anti Semitic, has a percieved meaning, and defined definition and is a political tool for cry-bullying. First the perceived meaning, That Anti Semitic is to be anti-Jewish, The Defined Definition is to be prejudiced to a people who speak semitic languages, which include Arabic, Hebrew, Amharic, Aramaic ect.. That Semitic, isn’t a race is a language family. You might wonder what is this word Cry-Bullying..it is someone is becoming emotionally irrational with a purpose to deflect the topic of fairness and accountability. We are seeing this more and more, and in some ways is the epidomy of ” Woke-ness.” Where no one can criticize Israel and should walk on their toes so they dont cry anti-semitism. On the streets we call this “bitchshit” similar to a girl crying in order to make everyone feel sorry for her. Its a form of crying wolf and insults real Jewish victims of real hate crimes.  Haffi keep it real fire man…

So this Cry-Bully thing, is what is happening when we keep hearing about Oct. 7th when the world has condemned the Hamas attacks on innocent civilians. What about the Millions of people being starved in Gaza, how does it help Israel by collectively starving and punishing men women and children? How does it make the security of Jews around the world safer, and how is it not a war crime? We commend all the Jews that have been arrested and spoken out against these War Crimes, and here in the USA we risk not just being arrested for demanding Human Rights Laws be defended, but also we risk our lives as radical right wing domestic extremists and terrorists want to shoot and drive over us. Its very dangerous for people in the world to stand up against tyranny when western governments are profiting from them. “I feel sorry for them, its bigger than your brand.” To quote you Mr. Matisyahu. Its bigger than the brand of Starbucks, McDonald’s, and Coke a Cola, or your brand of using reggae and hip hop to encourage a pro Israel stance. Palestine doesn’t have a super pac, it doesn’t have multi billion dollar companies supporting them. Acting like Israel is a victim of companies and celebrities who are overwhelming leaning towards a Free Palestine is a farce, quite the opposite, the voice for peace nearly silent.

What will happen more, is that the fear of being called anti-semitic will be a small price to pay when it comes to explaining criminals can say what they want, however what they do  are war crimes, and those who participate in war crimes, collaborate with war criminals should be held accountable in an international court of law and in world public opinion. That these Israeli leaders and ideas be considered Fascists, separatists, exclusionary, who sight that their birth right makes them entitled and supremacists over others as ” Chosen People.” This is already seen as a religious form of elitism ingrained with religious extremism, which most countries reject.  Religion doesn’t give anyone the right to commit war crimes or think that they are superior to another. I cannot believe Mr. Matisyahu that you dont see these bombings as war crimes, no matter who is hiding in a tunnel, maybe… That there is no weaseling out of justice, and accountability, that those who commit war crimes, as soon as possible we hope will be convicted and jailed. This is international human rights law, which Israeli governments have never respected. We hope you are not as callous or arrogant as your leaders.

As the Elder Vaughn Benjamin said, Natty watching you… what are your true colors, because right now, many fans are listening to your music and seeing that your perspective isn’t for peace its using music and your influence for war mongering. Rather than coming to conclusions please speak for yourself, and answer these questions, unless it is that you think you are better than us as Rastafari. You can make your own video or post, you dont have to talk to InI, but please explain how it is you want to encourage more death and destruction of innocent people so you can build the temple of Solomon..please explain why its good to starve and deny water to the sick, wounded and babies.

We seen in the past how you dont respond to calls or answer questions, rather call you friends in different Anti defamation leagues to then defame honest organizers. We have seen you call them anti-semitic and pressure their governments to force them to put you on their festival. ( Rototom Sunsplash 2015)  I am a small fish, and Israel already controls our politicians, no need to call Babylon. You already have Babylon, what you don’t have is the approval of Rastafari, and that if you want to make doors open and people really admire you, speak for those who are innocent being murdered by the rich and powerful no matter what land they live, no matter what religion. Go beyond the barriers of religion and look and see from Sudan to Ukraine, innocent people are being stuck in the cross fire with no where to go. From Capetown to Cairo, Africa is yelling Ceasefire. Stop thinking you are the Conquering Lion of Judah, and as Vaughn Benjamin, Akae Beka taught, Conquering to Conquer, and Conquer the need to Conquer. Are you going to profit off singing songs supporting the misery and destruction of a people because of your minority groups interpretation? What vision of peace do you have to offer, what are goals do Israel hope to achieve, and if this right wing government gets all they want will it be at the expense of their influence, prestige of all Jews woefully prejudiced and heart weakened?

We are listening, in this cry for justice, as a voice in wilderness, what will be your response. Will you repent or will you be stubborn, what example will you bring for reconciliation of peoples, or will self pity leave you stuck in the cage of nationalism? Are you with or against Freedom, for both Israel and Palestine, or just Israel alone?

This is how Akae Beka, would reason, so it really gets in there. Time is no barrier to substance, mind and matter as one. We stand for One Love, even though we have been beaten and murdered. That we as Rastafari and Black Liberation movements, know the plight against colonial forces and still stand for peace and human rights for all. Injustice anywhere is assault to humanity, and we hope though we have different opinions about the Scriptures that humility and reverence for the gift of Life be present in all our deliberations, mediations and words.

Reflect on these words as my closing, what the The Conquering Lion of Judah stood for, and stands for, as I and I do stand with HIM, on the question of human rights and how humanity should live as one. And that HIM would have never approved such talk as made in your posts . That we as HUMANITY should “We must look, first, to Almighty God, Who has raised man above the animals and endowed him with intelligence and reason. We must put our faith in Him, that He will not desert us or permit us to destroy humanity which He created in His image. And we must  look into ourselves, into the depths of our souls; We must become something we have never been and for which our education and experience and environment have ill-prepared us. We must become bigger than we have been: more courageous, greater in spirit, larger in outlook. We must become members of a new race, overcoming petty prejudice, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations but to our fellow men within the human community.”

May the Most High Grant you the inner strength to know right from wrong, and good from evil. To speak for the rights of all and not a few, and think and act in a manner that reflects rational solutions for the betterment of the world. I hope you realize that the right wing conservative radical government that is in control in Israel is not working for the benefit of Israel or anyone else. Please reconsider you position supporting a massacre that is the product of years of bad leadership internationally. When anyone chooses peace, over war, when they choose life over death, they and the world will be better off. We hope you can make that step, and many more to be the best you can be.  Thank you for reading. Feel free to send comments and messages on the link. Mr. Matisyahu please think about what has been written and Jah willing we will talk one day.

With a Heart of Reverence, Egziabeher Qedamawi Haile Selassie I Jah Rastafari.

LEWIS BENNETT: TRADE WINDS

Rastafari/ HIM Haile Selassie I position on Israel and Palestine

Greeting Rastafari Family and those who research Emperor Haile Selassie I and Ethiopian Relations.  In this time of great tribulation, we need to remember the King of Kings, and have a moral compass within that we can trust. This is a serious topic of Biblical proportions, where the ancient and modern meet. We will talk about the Emperor’s position and a little about the dynamics that brings us to this present time. Ethiopia’s relationship with Israel, as well as His proposed solutions and guidelines for the two state solution for Palestine and Israel.

Rather than showing the history of the countries relationship, let’s start with this as an intro: That the recent destruction of Gaza and the constant war crimes being committed by Israel and Hamas goes against Geneva Conventions and Rome Statutes, and The UN Charter, all of which the USA and Israel have ratified. The use of chemical weapons that are banned on dense populations by Israel are illegal under international law. All war crimes need to be investigated and parties held accountable on all sides.  We as the Rastafari community at large, mourn the lives of all innocent lives lost, from all religions, nations and races equally.  We demand, that food, water and fuel be given immediately to Palestine, so that those who are starving, dehydrated, and sick may be tended. A immediate ceasefire as demanded by the 2/3 of the UN General Assembly in their recent resolution is the moral cry from the world, in order that loss of life and war crimes cease, we support this call on behalf of international morality. We also agree the need for the release of all innocent people being held without charge or considered hostages on both sides. The murder of over 9000 Palestinian civilians, the majority being women and children is an assault on all of humanity. We also demand justice for the journalists and over 65 UN workers who have been killed by Israeli bombs.

Most of the information has been gathered in the book ” Alliance and Alienation, Ethiopia and Israel in the days of Haile Selassie by Haggai Erlich and cross checked by InI. I will say that though the information is incredibly telling it also has hints of the same anti- Arab sentiments that have contaminated the entire world view. With that said, the history of the creation of borders by the British after World War 1 and the diverse reactions and forms of Islam that were in set regions, the distinction of those who were considered moderate Muslims and those that were considered fundamentalist were important on a global level. Islam has existed in the region in and surrounding Ethiopia since Islam’s inception, which Ethiopia is apart of. The very real attacks, threats and history of Muslim Christian relations in Ethiopia also have impacted the decisions made by Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa in regard to Islamic countries in the area. Like most of Africa, and the so called Middle East, had been colonized, recently became independent and in the latter 20th century were ripe for proxy wars due to the need for financial assistance from outside nations. The dynamics of being in such a region, and situation, His Imperial Majesty being a Christian King surrounded by Islamic countries made the importance of being aligned and non aligned, trying out create or explore relationships, public and private that would take books to cover.

To get to the point that most want to know when it comes to the disintegration of relations between Emperor Haile Selassie I and the Israeli Government, where Ethiopia stood in the Israeli- Palestine conflict has to be seen as the decision of the Emperor. Ones may speculate on how much coercion was present severing of all ties with Israel, however the decisions presented by Ethiopia, are very conscious of the long term impacts and history’s judgment regarding the importance of long term peace.

In 1967 Ethiopia was a non permeant United Nations Security Council, and it a rare moment, all permeant and non permeant members agreed to UN Resolution 242, after the 6 six day war and the illegal expansion of Israeli territory. Internationally the borders were agreed on, in which Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Syria were to be protected from illegal occupation.  In this the set borders of Palestine was outlined and that Jerusalem be shared, with East Jerusalem be the capital of Palestine. His Imperial Majesty thought it best that Jerusalem be an international city, in which the world saw it as a religious capital for all. This idea was not entertained, nor did Egypt’s President Nassar accept the Emperor’s Help in developing a peace plan. We have many ideologies that conflict or are simply are not realistic that were coming into play, a few of them is the Zionist desire to expel Palestinians from their land, not thinking that there should be any repercussions, the other is a Pan Arab movement, that was not in alignment with African Unity being it based on Islamic unity rather than a Continental Unity. Another being by those in Ethiopia, that Israel as a people and that Israel as a government was the same, and that Ethiopia should always defend Israel because of Biblical and historical links, not realizing that the Jews occupying were foreigners to the region.

Israel refused to adhere to the UNSC Resolution 242, October 25, 1973, during the Yom Kippur Warfurther resolutions were passed and ignored, 338 and 339 leading to resolution 340 which also passes 14 to 0. It goes as:

In UNSCR 340, the Council demanded that the belligerent parties cease fire immediately and completely, and return to the positions occupied by them at 1650 GMT on 22 October 1973.

The Council also

  • Requested the Secretary-General to increase the number of United Nations military observers on both sides of the cease-fire lines.
  • Set up a United Nations Emergency Force to be composed of personnel drawn from UN member states except the permanent members of the Security Council.
  • Requested the Secretary-General to report back within 24 hours on these two provisions.
  • Requested the Secretary-General report back on a continuing basis on the implementation of this resolution, as well as 338 and 339, and requested all member states to co-operate fully in the implementation of these resolutions.

The resolution was adopted with 14 votes to none. The People’s Republic of China did not vote or formally abstain.

Ethiopia also saw along with the world community that accountability was needed for Israel, though it had been assisting Ethiopia and its military. In agreement with AU it was stated that Africa needed to sever ties with Israel in order to push for the human rights of Palestine and their right to their land. Ethiopia severed ties Oct. 25 1973 on Oct. 29th all Israeli’s were asked to leave Ethiopia, and the Embassy was shut down.

At the time of His Imperial Majesties disappearance, when it came to the issue of Palestine, That there should be UN troops on the ground, and that there should be implementation of the 1967 borders agreed in UN Resolution 242. This is still the position of most of the world when they speak of a two state solution based on the 1967 borders. In recent years both the US and Israel have become more conservative and hawkish, and will not allow human rights investigations, nor peacekeepers. It is written “Alliance and Alienation” that Emperor Haile Selassie I suggested that the most Orthodox and Religious Leaders of both sides, Muslims, Jews with Christians work together, being that the root of many of the beliefs are rooted in religious matters and the rhetoric spoken by the Mosques, Temples and Churches more than influential than political leaders. These ideas still hold legitimacy in the eyes of both religious and non religious people.

There is a rich and long history that is very important to understand the climate of the times, and how Ethiopia politically moved and dealt with different decades and events. In order that we share simple facts, the context, pretext is up to the reader to investigate, rather than speculate. It is a fact, that no embassy from Ethiopia during His Imperial Majesties Reign was ever set up in Israel, nor was there ever a state visit for Israel. That secret relations were kept between The King of Kings with Israel, and that Israeli government worked with those both who wanted to see His Majesty succeed and those who did not. Israel was working with the DERG Murderous Communist Government and were in Ethiopia again arming the military in 1975 and trying to prevent  Muslim Eritrean Independence.

The relationship between Ethiopia and the State of Israel after 1948 is complex and layered, some of which will take ones back hundreds of years before the state of Israel and  to the presence of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Jerusalem. There are two Churches in Jerusalem that Ethiopians have run for years, Debre Genet was founded by the Emperor Yohannes IV (r. 1872 – 1889). Yohannes, it is said, funded the venture with war booty from his battles with the Ottomans and Deir Sultan, the other is in the Old City, located on the roof of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

The relationship to King Solomon and Queen Makeda Candice of Ethiopia,  thru to the life and times of Christ,  is recorded in the Scriptures where ”Then the angel of the Lord said to Philip: Start out and go south to the road that leads down from Jerusalem to Gaza. So he set out and was on his way when he caught sight of an Ethiopian. This man was a eunuch, a high official of the Kandake Queen of Ethiopia in charge of all her treasure.” (Acts, 8:26-27)

In the book of Amos, chapter 9 we see that Ethiopia is the elder or Father of Israel and that the Ethiopias are known to be loved by the God of Abraham:” Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?”(KJV)

Ethiopia’s presence in Jerusalem and Judaism, is at the heart of the faith, which is why Ethiopia is also known as Beta-Israel, and well as the Tribe of Judah. The Ethiopian presence from Genesis to Moses to King David and King Solomon, on to Christ is integral in the identity of the people and country of Ethiopia. Ethiopia considers it’s King, an Emperor and King of Israel, anointed and divinely touched by God. The continues to present, in which the customs of both Judaism and Christianity are ancient and public. With this in mind, that until 1948, Beta Israel, and the King of Israel came from Ethiopia alone, in which Emperor Haile Selassie I sat on the “Throne of Zion.”  Being that a new nation of people calling themselves Israel, didn’t consider Emperor Haile Selassie I, their King, and were aligned with British and other European nations who had colonial exploits of the time. Emperor Haile Selassie I, just after regaining His Country from the Italians, in 1941 was also working with the British and allied forces, and saw that He couldn’t trust the British due to the colonial mindstate that was still in their agenda. Likewise, a lack of trust was apparent for the state of Israel, and yet relationships with both the British, USA and Israel were secretly and publicly were explored.

Thank you for reading, and I hope it was more than insightful. I hope that we realize like in 1973 the World needs to take global action in this time.  We need to find permeant solutions that do not support genocide, war crimes, forced displacement, or further escalations. Rather than being pulled into religious polarities, let us look at the topic of human rights, and the evil of collective punishment and the dangers the world faces if they do not tackle injustice. The problems that face the Middle East can not be solved with violence, we encourage all efforts internationally to find a peaceful end through compromise and mediation. Our Prayers are with the Whole World, That the naked be clothed, the  hungry be fed, the sick be nourished, the infants cared for and the elders protected, that the ignorant be instructed, O Jah, Let the words of I mouth and the meditations of I heart be acceptable in Jah Sight. Emperor Haile Selassie I in His Christ, Rastafari.

Being an artist is like being in a storm all the time, there is non stop brain activity that the non verbal manners of communication are trying to find a still visualization. In the subtle is the profound and in the loud there is an eire lack of anything worth hearing. Navigating through the highways of creation creator experience is the world of recording, writing and doing the stuff to get the art out. It is a joy to share this rush of emotions and thoughts as paintings, and drawings. Here are some of the new works, not all, because many of the pieces are awaiting release on albums. It is important to write, that I am now including a time limit, which was always in my discretion of when I will show InI art. We have to figure out as artists how to not hold ourselves and others waiting to release works, while being mindful that it takes time to put out an album or song. Doing art isn’t something artists really choose all way, it takes them over, and it is a way of breathing that is inseparable from life. This is why it needs to be shared and out in the world, because like air, and the living breath of life, we are here to share it.  Here are some new works, with much more to come. I hope you enjoy, and if there are any questions, feel free to message InI. Jah Be with you all, and Give thanks to be able to share this precious experience together in any capacity. RASTAFARI PIONEERS

NEW PIECE “Rastafari Pioneers”

In the last few Strongs, many of us prepare for the new year, and the celebrations for His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie First. It is a time of inner and outer travel often. In the last few Strongs, InI have reflecting on the Pioneers of Rastafari, those who led the way, and the impact they had and have. I feel that our collective experience cannot be fully drawn or painted, nor all the people represented, this is a part of a collective story and records of those who we know, there are those many of us don’t or will learn about more. The piece is to encourage ones to know more, to learn about the foundations of the Rastafari Movement. Some of these men we met, some taught us or our elders, and they are family to many as well. In full respect and reverence, this piece salutes the Fathers who gave their lives so we can know Rastafari as King, and Ourselves as a movement. Many of these men met the King of Kings, some sent by H.I.M., all of them emanated His Love.
In a time where many talk about disunity, let us project our unity and love for the many Houses of Rastafari, the growth and changes, the natural progressions that make up our Fathers Mansion. The Emperor in The Garden.  : Acrylic and Indian ink

How good it is to start the day with a mediation of simple goodness. Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you, But to do justly,
To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God.”

Brand New piece of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I, Conquering Lion of Judah. This is based on the last known photo of HIM and invoked lots of emotions. One is that the sun isn’t setting, neither does His Reign End. That this Garden was more of a place of peace and family, not a place of recluse or arrest. His Majesty is the brightness and solemness of the Garden and it is an expression of His Life. The feeling was more important than detail, and movement was focused on through using impressionism.
The King of Kings lives up to His Title, by being humble in times of adversity, one who taught to us to love mercy and fought for Justice for all Mankind. Glorify and Praise that which is Good. Rastafari. Prints are available, inbox if interested.
Thank You Justyn for commissioning the piece and having a great moment and glimpse worthy of remembering. Egziabeher Yemasagan

This piece is symbolic of the way elephants protect family and the adaptation of new situations. Liken to how a blind man will describe an elephant differently based on where he is standing, so we must realize there can be many truths that exist at once. This will allow us to end tribalistic thinking that declares one version of history the only history accepted.

" A shared Vision "

” A Shared Vision “

The Journey and getting to know Miguel Collins started creatively, through art. When one looks at his eyes, you can almost hear the multiple ideas and thoughts, streaming through as he listens and observes silently. Sizzla pulsates creativity, and vision. The Vision is Collective Praise, Honor and Respect to All Nations in abidance of The Word of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie First.
This piece was created in 2022 before we went to Jamaica at Mr. Miguel Collin’s Invitation. Little did I know all the other nations we were to meet in 3 Tabernacles. Ironically I didn’t put the Mexican Flag in this piece which was and is part of the manifestation with the crew. In this piece all nations are being called to Jamaica, to the Tabernacles, for healing, grounding and education. All of which we found  and more when we arrived. The True Tabernacle, The Holy of Holies is in Jah, Haile Selassie the First is the Tabernacle, the Temple and the Chapel. To go into HIM is to go into Jah…, what was, is and forever will be. There are 13 Ark’s or vessels in the piece, plus HIM.
This was the beginning, and there are many joy-tings ( paintings) that the Rt. Hon Miguel Collins has encouraged, come up with and put ideas into. We look forward to sharing this series starting with five, plus the new album cover ” Rise Up” and a collective vision of Unity and Rastafari in this time. Jamaica is a Holy Place, chosen by Jah. Blessed are those who are able to see this powerful island and people. Big Up Judgement Yard!

"MIGUEL N CHAZ"

“MIGUEL N CHAZ”

It was evening, and there was a diversity of people in Judgement yard. I was taken back by a child that was watching Miguel and Chaz together drumming and on the guitar, with Dre-Z Melodi peering in back. All those around can see when music is a central point of being, a perfect place. Everyone seemed to be in a perfect place, and so it seemed perfect to do some sketches and take some photos and be able to reflect and meditate on it. I like the sketch with a little ink, it seemed to capture the ease and casualness of being in harmony.  Click here for a print: http://blog.raselijah.com/shop/products/miguel-and-chaz/

"RT. HON. MIGUEL COLLINS "

“RT. HON. MIGUEL COLLINS “

As InI got to know Miguel and not just go by the music, thru livity and experience, I also began to try and figure out how to paint him in a way that would look like him. Everyone has a particular energy, and as an artist you want to find that flow, and aura. No face is the same, and it takes time to be able to encapsulate a feeling or image of a person. What an artist doesn’t want to do is make the image upsetting or inaccurate, so this was a study of his face. It seemed important in this piece to have his turban because of the importance of faith and order that is a militant part of the Rt. Hon. Miguel Collin’s personality.  click here for a print: http://blog.raselijah.com/shop/products/rt-hon-miguel-collins/
" SonLight Living Room "

” SonLight Living Room “

One of the joys was to do a mural in Sizzla’s Living Room at his compound in Judgement Yard. Lots of experiences on the stairs and with his nephew who helped do some of the painting too. It was a piece of Africa with a tear where the Nile River is on the face of a lion. The energy of the living room and the patio had a certain radiance when the sun hit. The color and hours spent watching the gradual changes made it worthy to try and recreate. I can feel the morning, and the excitement of the day, amongst the children of Jah.  Click here to get a print: http://blog.raselijah.com/shop/products/sonlight-in-the-living-room/

" Miguel's guitar "

” Miguel’s guitar “

Using a different palette and technique to try and add a uniqueness to Jamaica air, trees and earth, this piece is a tribute to Miguel’s love of things to come and traditions of old. From the Tabernacle, which is not heavily decorated to the contrast of the torn jeans and perfect tie and shirt, told a story of a work and person in progress. A place where the spirit and Foundation can sing itself into any place Jah sees fit. A place where the man is there for the world to see rather than hidden in the Tabernacle.  click to get a print: http://blog.raselijah.com/shop/products/miguels-guitar/

SIZZLA'S "RISE UP!"

SIZZLA’S “RISE UP!”

Album cover of the Grammy nominated reggae artist Sizzla Kalonji. In this piece Sizzla described exactly what he wanted in detail. The appearance to make it look like it was done quickly was  part of the intention. In true art, the flow and vibe is more important than making it photographic. The raw and aggressive lines, and the clear message carries an impact the sublime does not. It is meant to hit the viewer. This included the letters, which are all hand done. He wanted it to feel Rastafari, and also show real street letters that ones could read and are true to form. Something we could see on a wall and smile. I was very pleased listening to the album and that the art and the album also flowed, it was a work of art in perfect balance, clear and upfull. Raspect.

This is the first look at an ongoing series of creative ideas from a musical legend and genius, Rt. Hon. Miguel Collins, aka Sizzla Kalonji, one that will take the viewer into different visions and prayers, as well as human emotions that we all can relate too. I cannot not thank him enough for the warm invitation that touched the hearts of InI, Priest Abba, Dre-Z Melodi and Ras Gilbert profoundly. It is a joy to share the experience artistically at this time. Many wonderful and powerful ideas were and are being shared. More to come. Give thanks for viewing and supporting Rastafari Culture.
In His Mercy and Truth,
Most High Almighty God, Holy Emmauel I, King Selassie I, Jah Rastafari.
One Perfect Love.

As an artist, time is often fleeting. I am excited to share the new works and show how the art is changing and developing. More impressionism and attention to backgrounds with an emphasis on landscapes.

At this particular time, having a broken arm, typing and describing the art is a slow process however the drive to paint has increased. So here is to less words and more visuals. The show will be running for a month, and there will special pieces to be announced that are exciting and unreleased work.

I hope you enjoy, inbox in the contact link if anything catches your eye. Brand new works for a brand new day.
